Often adults who’ve had the experience of growing up in a household touched by addiction isolate themselves from others. Group therapy provides a safe place to connect with others and move beyond isolation. New Hope Christian Counseling is offering a group for adult children of addicted parents.

Some characteristics common to adult children of addicted parents include:

*Isolation

*Being super responsible or super irresponsible

*Being an over achiever

*Extreme loyalty even when undeserved

*Judging yourself without mercy

*Difficulty having fun

*Guessing at what is normal

*Taking yourself too seriously

*Having difficulty following through on projects

*Lying when it would be just as easy to tell the truth

*Difficulty with intimate relationships

*Overreacting to changes over which you have no control

*Constantly seeking approval
